Ali Zelaya-Scouting report

There is no place like home in Arizona for Alexandra Zelaya.
But taking her talents out of state may be the best thing for her young basketball career.
After helping win Goodyear Millennium's first 5A girls basketball state title in February, and being named to the azcentral sports' All-Arizona girls basketball team, the 6-4 junior forward is one of the nation's top college basketball recruits.
Zelaya, who led Millennium in scoring and rebounding with 19.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game during the state playoffs, gets a lot of mail and frequent visits from Division I college scouts across the map.
Zelaya will be visiting schools throughout her busy schedule this summer. She has received numerous Division I basketball scholarship offers including Arizona, Colorado State, Denver, Florida, Gonzaga, Loyola Marymount, Michigan, Princeton and Washington State.
Zelaya's versatility makes college scouts swoon. She plays a physical style with finesse and has a mid-range soft shooting touch. Towering height and the wingspan of an albatross make her indefensible to opponents. Plus, her agile footwork and ambidexterity on hook shots and ball-handling skills can lead fast breaks and penetrate from the perimeter.
A player of her caliber has the chance to have a major impact outside of the Valley. She has her eye on NCAA Tournament contenders.
But will Zelaya stay home in Arizona to make her mark in college basketball? She has a few options in Arizona State, UA and Northern Arizona.
Zelaya said she will going on official visits in July and will verbally commit to a school thereafter. She would be eligible to sign in Nov. 13-20 during the early period.
